Did you have dinner there? We are staying at the Fairmont, and was wondering whether to give it a try.

Yes we really enjoyed it. Great band too. The happy hour was packed, people were queued out the corridor when we went down at opening time. We did appetisers and drinks first and ended up liking the atmosphere so much we got a table and had dinner too.

McCormack and schmicks steak and seafood at Ghiraldeli Square is nice, chain restaurant but bit more up market with some lovely fish dishes and also a fantastic view over the bay, on a clear night can see right out to Alcatraz. Went there for my husbands 30th in 2016

We really liked the main Boudin bakery at Fisherman's Wharf. It's a big building with an open plan bakery where you can watch them make bread from outside the building, and there is a free self-guided factory tour inside the building. There is a restaurant and a quick service and a gift shop. It's a good experience and the sourdough bread bowls are pretty good too (though very, very filling).

Also, not a place to eat as such - but if you like chocolate I'd suggest checking out See's Candies, which is I believe based in SF/LA. They have some really nice chocolates (I love the Scotchmallow, and the California brittles are pretty good too), and they give out samples if you're in an actual store (not a kiosk)! I bought a few boxes of the San Francisco labelled boxes as gifts...

Oh and another not quite a place to eat as such, but, Pinkberry yoghurt is amazing and I went there 3 times in 3 days...

Thank you, i'll have a look at the menu, it might be nice to stay in the hotel one of our evenings.
