We're doing this. We fly into Tampa in August. Have a car booked with Alamo pick up 9pm and drop off at Disney car care at 6pm the next day so 21 hours. We will use the minibus to be dropped to CSR or Disney springs then arrange for it to collect us the following week when we're collecting for our offsite stay.

Done it many times, as well as leaving with valet parking at the Dolphin as the kiosk there has short hours. Convenient for us and never had an issue.

I assume I will need to pay for 1 night parking at CSR if I don't drop the car to the car place on our day of arrival?

You can leave it with the Dolphin’s valet parking team - they are quite used to doing this.
