Hire car in Belfast

Sorry if this is in wrong forum. Thinking of hiring a car for 2 days whilst in Belfast and wondering if there is anything we need to know or should be cautious about. Recommendations for company, was thinking Avis but not sure, any insurance pitfalls or extras we should know about. Thanks

Are you staying in the city or outside? Do you plan on touring about a lot. We go to Belfast a lot but often just leave car parked somewhere and walk around. It's a lovely city to wander in. Think they check if you'll be crossing border and add extra for that(heard somebody at work complaining about the cost last week).

Probably will need a car then. It's pretty awesome up around the north coast. Sorry I'm no help on car hire-just know the thing about cross border travel

We usually hire from Hertz when we go to Ireland but that’s because they don’t do a cross border charge and we are always travelling to the Republic of Ireland but fly into the north.
