I don't think budget are the best car hire in the world, Alamo certainly seem to be one of the best, but it's car hire at the end of the day and if you are saving a decent amount of money then it's worth it.

Had Budget booked for this Oct, £780 for 20 days SUV 7 seater, via BA, from all the research I did, they appeared to give the hard sell @ the desk, no short cut to the Garage & you perhaps would not end up with a brand new Car, compared to Alamo. Though if you you a happy with the Price & it's a third of the price of Alamo I'd say go with it as the above hassle will no doubt be worth the savings.

I've been on here 17+ years and read maybe 90% of car hire threads. Over those years every car hire company has had it's share of good and bad reviews.

It depends on what cars are in the row on the day. You can't go straight to the garage and pick your own as you can with Alamo but so long as it includes CDW with no excess and $1m SLI go for it.

If you're flying into MCO make sure you sign up to the Visitor Toll Pass - no brainer

PS

Avis and Budget (same group) are partners with BA Fly Drive so they can't be that bad.

OP. Budget is fine. Car Rental Companies and their customer service and quality of fleet are up and down like a yo yo.

Alamo has a great reputation on here as you can pick your own car. All fine and dandy except:-

Cars are rarely in the right row for their type
The Standard SUV row is poor and 75% full of Intermediate SUV's sadly.
The choice of Luxury and Premium cars is getting less every year.
My last 3 rentals with them every car had a slow puncture.

Hertz has a better quality fleet.

Loads of us on here will remember how Dollar went to the dogs and became so poor Virgin chopped them as their supplier of choice. Dirty, old and mechanically unsound vehicles.

However they are firmly on the up as of 2 years ago and reviews are good.

Hence to me price rules and the sales agent can try and sell me whatever he/she likes. Wasting their time as I ignore them.

Hertz generally seem to be pretty good from what I have seen, normally they are pretty expensive so never been a company I have personally rented with before.

Hertz is well respected on this site. A lot of Dibbers use them but normally they are more expensive than Alamo so get pushed to one side. Prices are better for 2022. I have 2 bookings with them for next year.
