Took our two last summer (8 an 10 at the time). We stayed at the Four Seasons (top floors of the Mandalay Bay hotel), which turned out to be a good choice.
Ours love swimming, so they spent about 7 hours a day in the four seasons pool. Meanwhile us parents got great service on our loungers under the palm trees, so you can enjoy a few drinks without having to go near a proper bar. We also had access to the full Mandalay Bay pool, but to be honest whilst it looks good in photos it is absolutely packed by about 10:30am, and wouldn't be somewhere I would be happy to let the kids wander around unsupervised, despite the fact that they can swim like fish. As for outings: - Trip to the Grand Canyon (South Rim) was a great day out. - Trip to the Hoover Dam also really good, but arrive early so you can be on one of the first 'inside the dam' tours. - We took them to see the Lion King at the Mandalay - excellent show for kids and adults. - Also took them to see Penn and Teller - depends on your kids as to whether it is suitable (the do one trick with a chainsaw which gets a bit 'messy'), but it's more Tom and Jerry than Texas Chainsaw Massacre. - Shopping and Eating, Shopping and Eating! The one tip I would give if you want to do it is to try and stay in one of the non-casino hotels - a lot of the bigger hotels have added 'all suite' type extensions in separate buildings. The big advantage is that you can (mostly) avoid having to drag your kids through smokey casino floors to get out of the hotel. |

Thanks for the info, but that's a blow
I thought seeing as though there's no casino in the Signature it might be a bit more relaxed. Oh well, have to do what you did then I do have another question regarding kids entertainment - Is the pool likely to be open in early April? The Virgin invoice states that pools are not open all year in Vegas, which is stating the obvious, but is early April likely to be warm enough for them to be open?

The pool at Tower 2 was open and is a little walk from either Tower 1 or 3. It was chilly last week but it was still open. Its a smallish pool, but plenty big enough for us brave UK visitors
I think it tells you on the Signature website when the main pools are open - I've got a feeling its from March onwards - what date in March, I'm not too sure... HTH's Any more questions, feel free to ask away x ps. the US drink laws are a lot stricter than ours - you'll find this wherever you visit over there x |

There is a (not completely) helpful list here:
lasvegasadvisor/showtable.cfm?id=24 Most of them state 'seasonal', and from what I recall from researching in detail about 18 months ago, early April is likely to be 'Off Season' for pools. You'd be advised to check with the specific hotel(s) you are considering. Some have info on their web sites but most you would have to enquire directly with them. Outside temperature is definitely a consideration - Vegas is very hot in the summer but pretty chilly in the winter. I also suspect that the exact opening dates for any pool would also be subject to the level of bookings - the hotel may well delay opening the pool to avoid staff and heating costs if bookings are down earlier in the season. Also, bear in mind that most, if not all, of the pools close by about 6:00pm, as the casinos want you spending your $$$ rather than chilling out by the pool. (Shame really as the summer evenings are really nice and warm, but without the mosquito menace that you get in Florida). |

Thanks
I've just had a look on their website but can't find the dates. It doesn't matter that much, it's just another option for us if it is open. Think we'll pack the swimwear anyway though.

Brilliant, thank you for the link.
Definitely packing the swimwear now, those pools look amazing. Is anything small/normal/ordinary in Vegas?

Pools open up in March we left on the 8th last yr and most were getting ready to open up within the next 2 weeks ready for the spring break crowd.
Some had opened up early tho due to the excellent weather. |
