There is a whole list of things you can do with children.. i did a long long list not to long ago.. infact i'll try and find it this week and ask if it can be made into a sticky for people to refer to.

As for the porn card slappers..they dont bother you if you have kids with you.. and at the end of the day they are pieces of paper with girls on .. walk down any beach in Europe and i'll guarantee you your kids will see more exposed flesh. My kids were exposed to far more sleeze and drunken behaviour in a weekend in Blackpool than they ever have been in Las Vegas.

Sorry to jump in but a quick question.

I know kids aren't allowed to stop and have to stay on the main walkway through the casino's, but read somewhere that certain hotels (think one of them might have been the Wynn) won't even let children in the door unless you can prove you are resident at the hotel - Any idea if this is true?

Thanks

We were there in aug with ds 8 and dd 11,they both loved it,we stayed in the Mandalay bay which had the wave pool and lazy river they enjoyed through the day,we went right down the strip through the day and in the dark and never once felt unsafe,we will definitely be going back,I wouldn't be put off.

It's the bellagio that supposedly has that rule but i've taken my kids in before and I've always seen other kids about in there.
I would say my kids have been in 90% of the hotels on the strip and we've never encountered any issues .

Infact everyone has always been very friendly towards the kids, my youngest was violently Ill whilst we were walking through Caesars palace and the staff couldnt have been more helpful , making sure we were ok and helping to clean him and his buggy up, and giving him a free t-shirt .

Both the Wynn and the Bellagio have this policy, but as they do allow kids to stay in the hotel, enforcement for non-guests will be somewhat hit and miss.

Stayed at the Wynn a few years back and can't really think there is much in there that you would want to take the kids in to see anyway. They have a Ferrari dealership in the (small) shopping mall, which charged for entry when I was there and I think still does, but other than that there are no attractions that would interest a kid or even a teenager.

They have a big rocky waterfall type thing going on near the entry, but otherwise it's just one of the higher stakes casinos and some high-end shops. Their target market is definitely the more well-heeled adults, hence the no-kids policy.

We walked thru the Bellagio last week with the boys - wasn't stopped. Infact not stopped any where - didn't venture into the Wynn tho, so not sure about that one.

Well i can honestly say i've been in the Bellagio several times with and without kids and i've never been challenged or seen anyone be challenged either. Supposedly pushchairs arent allowed either but again i've taken one in there.

My kids have been in the shops in the Bellagio (high end like the Wynn, but no more so than shops in the posh part of the Westfield in London) and the bit with the flowers (cant think of its proper name), Infact the last time we went we bought my daughter a chocolate strawberry so often from the shop in the Bellagio the staff were on 1st name terms with her.

Maybe it comes down to how the kids are behaving? if your just walking through looking at things/ shopping and the kids are well behaved your ok... if you have kids throwing a strop / hissy fit i can see that prehaps yes you would be asked to leave.

When Steve Wynn, who now owns Wynn & Encore, built Bellagio in the mid 90s, there absolutely was a policy of no children in strollers in the hotel, full stop, whether you were a guest or not. This was relaxed to allow hotel guests to have strollers, but no one else. This proved somewhat difficult, and potentially a source of conflict, to enforce so it was (gradually) phased out. Of course, Steve Wynn no longer owns the Bellagio - and there is no longer any more restriction on kids (of any age) within the hotel/casino.

Wynn (and later, Encore) went through exactly the same process when Wynn built those. As far as I'm aware, and this seems to be backed up by comments wthin this thread, there are no restrictions on kids at either Wynn or Encore now.

There is a bar in Tower 1, and obviously in the main MGM Grand Hotel. As the boys weren't allowed to be with us in a bar, we bought beer from the local Walgreens and took it back to our room.
Just in the very early stages of planning a West Coast trip and this has made me decide Vegas definitely isn't for us. Not that we get rolling drunk while we're away, but we do enjoy a few cocktails or beers before dinner. It's just not the same in the room.
Oh well, we'll have to plan a trip without the boys

I know exactly what you mean - we like a little relax with a drink and not necessarily whilst we have a meal (because you can drink and have a meal together obviously). That's why if we go back, we won't be taking the boys.

The boys seem to think there were a couple of restaurants that were over 21's too, but I can't remember to be honest, and if they were, they were to more expensive ones.

There are a few places thats adult only.. fireside lounge at the Peppermill and some of the very high end places.

But there are plenty of nice places that do accept children so its never been an issue.
