50 Not Out. Going Solo In September - travelling day(s)

So, I'm sat at Cardiff Central waiting for my train to Paddington. only there is no train...

It's cancelled! So I'm sat in the lounge weighing up whether to get a different route and have to change - with my luggage - or wait an extra hour for the next direct train. Ho-hum..

Finally on my way. 1 hour and 8 mins late. Farewell Cardiff...

Well I made it to Paddington. Only an hour behind schedule. now of to Heathrow on the Heathrow express

Arrived at the Hilton T4. Cool room numbers. Heathrow express to LHR central was fast. Connect to T4 was fine but spent longer waiting for the lifts up into T4!

Went across to T2 for some food. Bit of a trek! Breezing back to the Hilton - early start tomorrow - nos da 😴

Up and ready to head to T3

Finally settled in the No1 lounge. It's a bit busy but I've got a nice seat overlooking the runway. The nice lady from Virgin sorted out my boarding card for my internal flight as well - should save me a few mins at DTW 👍

Time for some fizz. Gate due to be called at 9-30 so I have a while yet. Hoping to get some sleep on the plane as I didn't sleep much last night.

But I have a rather large passenger sat next to me who is encroaching on my personal space bless him he's already apologised twice and promised to move if the flight isn't full

Well the good news is I've made my connection.
Touched down at 1325
In immigration by 1340 (The queue increased drastically just after I joined it)
Out of customs by 1415
Through bag drop and screening Including being selected for random search by 1430
Now sat at my gate waiting for boarding.

We were advised on the plane that customs forms were not required of we were travelling on an esta and had visited the states since 2008. We were directed straight to the automated kiosks.

Flight on time and landed a few mins early

Anyone else have a thing for pretty clouds? Running down the coast into tampa.
Off the plane and in the hire car (Avis, no hard sell) within half an hour of touching down.
I have a chevy cruse(?).
Fair bit of traffic out of tampa, few breakdowns and fender benders but arrived at Pop by 8pm.

I waited. The alternative would only have got me there 20mins before the next direct train.
At least I didn't have a flight to catch like one guy. He ended up getting a taxi as he hadn't factored in any delays!
