Ontario And Quebec 2017: Day 15 - Food, Fish and Boats

We woke this morning to a foggy exterior!

It was a slow start to the day - J was still feeling the effects of having walked 20km and having been on his feet for a solid 12 hours at the festival! Hard to be over 50!

Breakfast in one form or another was had!

By the time we were ready to go to Maniwaki the sun was out!

Maniwaki is about 20km from the cottage and one of the larger towns in the region with a population of about 4,000 people. On the outskirts of the town is a reserve of Native Americans - all along the highway before the town are craft shops and shops selling cigarettes plus a casino!

In the town our sole objective was food shopping! We are far enough from any restaurants that catering for ourselves is a necessity! We stocked up on things that are easy enough to create into something tasty and relatively healthy!

The drive back is along long straight roads!

And a single file bridge over the Gatineau river. J is eyeing this up for rafting but fears it will be too slow!

After a lunch of semi homemade pizza, we went out on the lake! I went in the pedalo with each of the kids!

The cottage from the lake!

The canoe was used - to great efficiency by F! I sat on the swing chair and read my kindle ! I may gave got a bit burnt as I forgot to put lotion on my neck - whoops!

The boys played on the rings - O even putting in a spurt of energy

F did some fishing with her net and was rewarded with four little fishes! They were released back

As dinner was cooking, F made some oat and raisin cookies!

After having eaten, the three waterbabes took the kayak and canoe out to the fishing island - one small fish was caught!

I sat and admired the view! Again no real sunset tonight - too much cloud!

They arrived back and we dragged all the boats up onto the beach.

We hadn't long been in the house when there was a thunderstorm with lots of rain! Better now than during the day!

After showers and a bit of tabletting, bed was calling!
