Help with friends plan day one
So I’m helping friends plan there aug trip, they are staying onsite POR with ddp.
Day one needs to be magic Kingdom but it only opens 9am. Typically I’d say to 7am chef Mickey as jet lag means they’ll be up early. However they unsurprisingly aren’t keen on doing a mini van or Uber on day one. So... what you suggest? Crystal Palace 8am? Or just hang out at POR then get to MK for rope drop? |

They could also try BOG for 08:05 and then be in a prime spot for 7DMT at opening.

Be our guest otherwise I would advise them to have breakfast at their resort and head other on the buses etc.

Sounds like they want to take things a bit slower.
I would suggest they have Sassagoula breakfast then head to MK for ropedrop. Or get a delivery of breakfast food from Garden grocer on arrival day for the room. Very handy if you are up at 5am. |

I would not assume everyone gets jet lag and is up early. Flying to Orlando has no impact on us whatsoever, we are in the new time zone the moment we land and we wake up and get up on Orlando time. Unless I was staying at the Contemporary, I cannot think of any reason why I might consider Chef Mickeys for my first morning.
It sounds like they want to be more leisurely, I would recommend to them either eating at their own resort or going to MK and getting something there, |

I would make a 8.05 BOG or CP booking to be there for park opening. I find 7 too early for breakfast, even on the first day. We had a 7.15 breakfast at Trattoria al Forno on the first morning last trip and although we were awake early it felt a bit of a scrabble to get out and to Boardwalk on time.
Maybe they would prefer to start a little slower. 8am breakfast will still give them a very long first day. We find a break mid afternoon on the first day is useful too, so we can adjust to the time difference and go out in the evening after the break and last until at least 10.30pm that night. |

If they are on site for entire holiday, I'd not worry about getting to MK so early and getting to front of lines - should be able to get all fast passes they want during their stay.
I would have leisurely morning getting to know resort / food hall and get a bus to MK as and when - perhaps booking FP's for mid morning.

I agree with the others- 8am BOG breakfast- great use of the ddp - then get a head start on PP or SWMT. Its also a lovely way to start the holiday- grab a few photos with a empty park. CP could work too but I don't like rushing a TS meal and I like the advantage of beating rope drop. We had no issues getting the buses for 8am start at MK. We tend to last until the parade on day 1 then need to escape and rest.

I'd suggest breakfast at POR and then get the bus over to MK in plenty of time for rope drop.
