I like the sound of this but I’m not exactly sure what you mean. Sorry but can you explain please.

Yes I’m probably going to hold on and hope the dollar goes up.

I think what was meant was get a currency card like revolut or fairfx, put the amount the hotel is going to cost you on that in pounds and convert it to todays rate in dollars then just keep it till you get there and pay with the card. if the rate goes down more you wont lose out, if the rate starts to climb you can either pay straight away or convert back to pounds

Definitely recommend Revolut. You get bank to bank rate (I think that is the correct term) so the exchange rate is always better than the high street. For example, today it is £1=$1.25

As I am going soon I have brought mine today. Saw something on BBC where a women said it may take a few more knocks soon so took the plunge. If I had longer I would have waited.
Only changed £600 (incedentals) as the rest will be on my Halifax Clarity.
Purchased online through Tesco £1= $1.2231

I got £500 worth of dollars at 1.26 from John Lewis a couple of weeks ago. I think I got a good rate for the high street.

I collected mine from JL on Saturday - I’d ordered them the Sunday before at 1.2633. Glad we did it then looking at the rate right now!

You have got a long way to go, I would not pay now, things will get better and as your a long way off worth waiting it out.

We took the plunge the other week @ $1.25 worst I have ever got

We go this October and I decided to take the plunge last April time when the rate was 1.4 A number of people told me I'd jumped too soon and it would be better by October this year, but I'm glad I did now, as it doesn't show signs of doing much!

Same here. I've bought in 3 stages over last year even though not going until Nov. Just wasn't willing to assume an on time orderly Brexit given the standard of our politicians. Average over the 3 purchases was 1.3421 so am $200 better off than if I'd changed today. Won't change my life but better than nothing.
