Hotel rooms aren't big enough to make a mess in, if you keep it tidy it will take 2 mins to make 2 beds and another minute to wipe the sink and loo with a wet wipe .job done $130 in my pocket ... Yes please

I must agree with you - I don't - but a villa gets a major clean between guests. The hotel rooms get a standard clean between guests, doesn't matter if they have had someone filthy or a nice clean dibber. And I still maintain it takes a lot longer to clean a bathroom after 5 days of not cleaning it, than it does after cleaning it every day.

It is also - of course - being done to save them money not us... it is effecting the employment hours of some of the poorest most hardworking people at Disney, I cannot see that being a good thing.

Definitely keep it you are holiday, I love coming back to the towel animals and the lovely clean room, the saving compared to the cost of the holiday is minimal
Either way have a great time :-)

Even if you are opting out of house keeping - staff are probably still coming in the room.
From our experience, no probably about it, they come in daily. Sometimes it's a security spot-check rather than a maid, but they definitely come in at least once a day. (they did when we opted out 2 year ago).

A lot of hotels will have a sign up somewhere in the lobby to say they will access the room once every 24 hrs for welfare checks/security reasons. We didn’t have that in place in the hotel we worked at, and instead our housekeeping would double as a welfare check, I once had a call from a housekeeper who thought she had found a dead body but it turned out to be a very very drunk man who hadn’t made it to bed.

But I’d never think no one will access your room, housekeeping or not, because they probably are.

We did it, we had 2 rooms with 2 adults in each for 14 nights.

It was nice never having to worry about coming back during the day incase mousekeeping were still there.

We made our own beds, got fresh sheets and fresh towels. Toiletries are in large bottles on the wall now so no need for these to be topped up. We left our bins out and there were collected.

I'd do it again for sure.

Still bemused by this. What's next, 50 bucks off for taking a room that's not been cleaned for a week and 200 for a room that's never been cleaned?

Literally a grubby practice.

I’ve read a few reports online of people who have kept Mousekeeping and haven’t had floors cleaned so it isn’t a given.
Don’t count on the cute towel art either, apparently they are not training new staff in on how to do it so if you do happen to get someone who does it, you are lucky.

Hi guys you all need to read the thread on bed bugs and how well Disney dealt with it, no cleaning and it wouldn't have been found as quickly. We must all keep cleaning and keep the standards up.

Yes it saves them money, but the main reason they offer it is because they have problems recruiting staff for the role.
