Anything and everything Swan & Dolphin...
Hi guys,
I always thought GF would be the place for me, but more recently I'm looking into Swan and Dolphin. I have a little info, but I haven't seen as much as fairy tale weddings. If any one has any reports, photos, info on their swan and dolphin wedding- I'd love to know. Are you glad you went S&D and why did you? I think the only thing that puts me off is not being able to have the MK photo shoot- but does any one know if ANYONE can have just a 'random' MK photo shoot? such as the photopass ones they do at some resorts? Also, where is the cake cutting and champagne toast held? I'm looking at the beach location for the ceremony. I also was so set on having a dessert party as I adore Wishes, I think this is still an option (from what I understand and have heard) does any one know or has any one experienced this. Also, what are the venues for the reception at S&D, I'm looking for a sit down meal, but with buffet type food. I'd love it outside, but with covering- but have really not seen any/a lot of info the reception sites Thanks in advance Edited at 07:17 PM. |

Hi there. Can't answer all your questions re Swan and Dolphin unfortunately but we are getting married in March and had originally booked the Swan for our ceremony. Not sure who you were planning on booking your wedding through but we booked ours through Virgin. We had always set our heart on the beach location too but when we were allocated our virgin wedding coordinator out in Florida, she told us that not only had she not held any ceremonies at the beach location, it was also in a very public area (a children's play area is quite close apparently). She also said that as it was not the 'usual' location for weddings there would also be an additional set up fee of up to $1600 if we wanted flowers, arch etc. I am obviously only relaying what we have been told and others who may have had their weddings there may be able to give you more detail, but thought you might like to know especially if booking through Virgin. The Swan also charge an additional £254 for the wedding if you don't stay there. If you need any more detail just let me know x

Hi we are getting married at Cypress Grove now which has about 80 acres of landscaped gardens and lakeside location. Not a beach location but absolutely beautiful. Didn't want to put negative comments but the beach location was really important to us when we were choosing and were really disappointed when we were told that. You will probably find if you are planning it yourself the hotel's wedding coordinator is really helpful. I think I might still have her email details if you would like me to pm them to you.

I got married at the swan in November 2010, I have created an album in my profile to show the various locations around the swan, we were married in the courtyard which was lovely and private. The cake and champagne would usually be where you have your ceremony but it was very windy the day we got married so we cut the cake inside the hotel. We booked the deluxe package through virgin weddings but I think we ended up spending quite a bit on upgrades when we were actually over there, but it's good value if you are happy with the basics, we spent the most on upgrading the photography package. We had our reception meal at Shulas in the dolphin, we also had a dessert party in Epcot which I booked directly through disney catered events. It was honestly the best day of my life and I wouldn't have changed anything. I hope I've answered all of your questions, I'm on my mobile so can't see original post! If you have any further questions I'd be happy to try an help

Hi!
I am the Joanne that Claire (Chilly) was referring to! Our recent VR at the Swan was perfect and the best day of our lives! I honestly couldn't fault my planner, Karen, or the Swan at all. I am intrigued about the extra fee that the other poster reported, if you don't stay at the S/D, because we didn't stay at the S/D and were charged no extra fees, nor was it ever mentioned! Also, it is simply not true that the beach area at the S/D is an unusual location for weddings - they have weddings at the beach location all the time! Good luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! I say go for a S/D wedding! I am certain you will have no regrets!
