Extinction Rebellion threaten Heathrow 13 September
The action, being organised by a splinter group of Extinction Rebellion supporters, is scheduled to start on Friday, September 13 and last for a week – but activists warn that it could go on for even longer.
With about 219,000 passengers using Heathrow on an average day, more than 1.5 million people could be affected. Final planning documents, seen exclusively by The Mail on Sunday, show that the protesters will fly toy drones at head height over the airfield to stop aircraft landing or taking off. thegwpf/climate-extr...throw-airport/ dailymail/news/art...w-airport.html

Extinction Rebellion known to scare monger to induce worry plus Daily Mail known to publish lies and supporters of Hitler. Wouldn't worry too much.

we're off to the south of france on the 13th and were due to fly LHR-MRS. With a bit of planning I've persuaded SWMBO that we should drive instead. While I have little faith in the provenance of MoS's information I dont really want to risk my only week holiday this year.
Ironically enough, XR have paid for this holiday anyway through all the overtime i earnt when they first came out. So its their fault that i'll be driving a 3l diesel X5 from NW Kent to Provence |

Can the drones not just be shot down now we know they are not a terrorist attack with chemicals, when it happened before that was what they were worried about

Class it as a terrorist action and let them feel the full force of the Law.

In conversation with a group of ER campaigners at the week-end during a Pride event in Cardiff.
According to them the ER leadership tactics are changing away from disrupting airports and other public transport. They accept they have lost support by impacting people travelling to work or taking a family holiday. They realise high profile celebrities flying around telling people not to fly appears hypocritical. So they are moving away completely to try something different. Apparently ER are focusing on lobbying UK government and EU leaders, with a co-ordinated plan to stop importing all meat and dairy products from New Zealand. ER will be targeting all supermarkets with a campaign to remove NZ products from shelves completely, and pressure them to cease buying from NZ. ER are working with NZ PM Jacinda Ardern, apparently she agrees NZ should stop exporting food as part of a zero growth strategy. ER will also be campaigning against NZ tourism, with which Ardern is also on board. ER will target travel agents, tour companies, and airlines, but not flights. They chose NZ because of the distance exports and tourists need to travel. I didn't realise NZ is over 3000 miles away from Australia. ER will progressively move to other countries but non-essential travel to and from NZ is their immediate concern. I've been quite critical of ER but must admit if they use different tactics, and abandon flight disruption etc, I think they could win over more people to support their cause. They also expressed concern Greta Thunberg has gone missing whilst crossing the Atlantic. The boat she is travelling in has no transponder signal. Edited at 09:45 PM. |

The idea that Jacinda Adern believes that NZ should stop exporting food is complete and utter hogwash!
When she was last over here she signed agreements specifically aimed at helping the NZ meat sector and she is currently negotiating a free trade agreement with the EU aimed at opening up the European market more to agricultural exports. As for Greta Thunberg going missing in the Atlantic, she doesn't leave Plymouth until today! Edited at 04:20 PM. |
