Insurance for a DIY trip
I am on planning next years Disney holiday, and am doing it all DIY. Only issue I am having is finding a suitable insurance that covers this, mainly indirect loss and airline failure, because if one fails there is a knock on effect to everything else ie accom, park tickets, car hire. Can any of you DIYers recommend a travel insurance company who caters for this type of holiday. Most I've looked at say they do but when you read small print they don't, very annoying. Any help from Dibbers would be great.

We use Aviva and added on all the extras - end supplier failure, airline, baggage etc. I think (hope!) this covers everything DIY!

My insurance is with my bank account so I can't speak from experience but try Staysure, Direct Line, Insureandgo and Avanti. When you find a policy you're happy with online try and speak with an advisor to make sure it really does give you all the cover you need.
I also pay for everything with a credit card (or at least over £100) as then you'll have redress via Section 75 consumer credit act which offers some protection for purchases that go wrong. Most important; take out insurance as soon as you part with any money. I've known many people to only buy this literally the day before going on holiday and one lady at work has just lost over £3k because she had to cancel due to a family bereavement and hadn't taken out cover. |

I’m doing DIY for next year and have taken out LV Premier. Added in everything I needed and triple checked. Took it out at same time as booking the flydrive

All sorted dibbers 😀 Flights and accommodation booked, went with Staysure for insurance, and paying all on credit cards. The rest of the planning continues, but the countdown has begun. 😃
