How do people get to the airport?

This year we're struggling to decide what we should do with regards to getting to the airport.
One choice is Stay at our usual hotel where they keep our car for the 17 days £110.
Airport Parking and stay at a different hotel £73.99 for 17 days
Airport Parking £42.99 for 16 days
Taxi there and back approx £150 (usual transfer company gone bust)

How do you decide what to do?

We prefer to drive to the airport, park and stay the night before.

It's nice to get back and collect the car, without waiting for anyone.

Most times we are lucky enough to get a lif from family the day before meaning that we don't need to worry about parking

My holiday starts the night we stay at a hotel the day before flying. I can relax, have a good soak in the bath and then enjoy dinner, a bit of TV and good night's sleep. If we do twilight check in at Gatwick we usually got to the cinema in Crawley . Like Manta it's great, on return from holiday, to get in your own car and get home for a cuppa.

We have tried driving ourselves, had taxis and friends have driven us with us paying for petrol. The last option is the best for us - thank you, you know who you are !

We have often stayed at a Premier Inn, close to the airport (with its own parking)which has been spot on and very affordable, then just get airport parking from the next morning. Works out cheaper with the excitement of going the afternoon before the flight.

We live an hour away from man airport so usually use transfers. I've never fancied driving after the night flight.

We usually do a hotel and 15 days parking, we have a 1pm flight this year and we're still going to stay the night before (otherwise my nerves become frazzled about getting there in plenty of time)!
