Am looking to make cheese scones to take to work tommorrow, recipe says baking powder but is bicarbonate of soda nearly the same? Will it make a difference?

Yes it would make a difference. Baking powder contains bicarbonate but other ingredients as well. Want to say cream of tartar but I’m not 100% sure.

Yes but you do need baking powder as well to get that extra rise
