Next Cruise is booked (MSC)

So I offered my sister the option of a cruise next year. She has 5 kids, and then there's just me.

So we have booked two balcony cabins. Her and her husband in one with her two 10yr old twins. And then me in the other with the 16yr old twin girls, and the 6 yr old who is obsessed with me (but the arrangements could change I guess).

We're doing the Meraviglia around Northern Europe next August. And I have to say the cabins look like they will work really well for 4 people. They have a big sofa that pulls up to become a bunk bed, rather than folding out and taking up floor space. And watching some of the vlogs on Meraviglia she does seem like pretty impressive ship. That said it seems like they can be a bit hit and miss with customer service. So we shall see.

Has anyone else here done MSC or the Meraviglia?

We went on the meraviglia in January, beautiful ship but MSC is not for us , teppanyaki restaurant was lovely , the main ceiling in the foyer changes all the time and they do a different show every evening on the ceiling , worth a watch
The aquapark looked good but the weather was awful when we were on ,so couldn't use it .

Just wanted to say thats a lovely thing to do for your sister! Wish my brother would take me on a cruise

Am sure you will have a fab time, I think all ships have pros and cons, but you can always find what works for you, be it buffet, or speciality dining.

Have fun!

We've sailed twice with MSC, both times on the Divina to Bermuda and then the Caribbean.
We were with our 2 boys in a balcony cabin and were perfectly fine in there, as you say, the sofa turns into another double.
The shows in the theatre were in the most part very good and there was plenty of other entertainment throughout the ship.
The food was great along with the service.
The only con was that every announcement was in about 50 different languages

My BIL and partner went on that ship for a Christmas med cruise as they got a bargain. They loved the ship but were not keen on MSC, I think the people getting on and off at each port and the food were what they were unhappy with which is a shame as they said the ship itself was one of the nicest they have been on. However they did say the price they got was a bargain and they wouldn’t completely rule out sailing with them again for the fab price they paid!

We have cruised on the Meraviglia and the ship is absolutley stunning. It's fantastic for kids. I adored her as a ship if we seperate it from the MSC experience. We only had a standard interior cabin and it was large and comfortable.

MSC is not for us and we will never cruise them again. We have cruised with 5 lines so have some basis for comparison. On the upside MSC is usually very cheap. On the downside there is (at least in my opinion) a reason for that.

We are just back from 7 nights on Meraviglia - we were a bit worried because the reviews were hit and miss. We didn’t need to worry - we loved every minute - we booked a spa package and were so pleased we did it was just a lovely way to spend time relaxing. Our balcony cabin we had was fairly big and really well located midship.

The one big negative I’d read about before we left was the food. We were lucky with our food choices and at no point were we hungry in fact the pasta, pizza and salads we had were all really good but we were more impressed with the premium drinks package which we managed to get as part of our package when we booked - the choice was endless and of course it’s rude not to try every cocktail on the menu 🙂 . We also loved the Cirque du Soleil Viaggio show it was just an explosion of colour and definitely worth what they charged us for the show.

The ship is beautiful and we enjoyed it so much I’m about to book Seaside for next year. Hope you love the ship as much as we did.

Great stuff! I was thinking about booking one of the Cirque packages (the one with just the cocktail rather than a meal) but wasn't sure about which show to choose out of the two!

Also will add the "Easy" alcohol package for the adults, and the soft drinks for the kids at some point between now and the Cruise.

We saw both Viaggio and Sonor (might have the names slightly wrong) Viaggio was the better in our opinion. Sonor had a very long section of drumming which I didn't really enjoy.
