I have had to let go the cleaner, the stable staff and the butler.

Times are certainly getting tough

Who pays someone to clean their house?

How much do you pay?

When can I start?

I would never expect the cleaner to be available when I wanted to restart the service, however they may be the first point of contact..

Plus, me paying a retainer would in short prevent a cleaner from claiming any government support too, so that would be something they would need to be aware of.
Paying a retainer does not prevent me from government support. I will claim the 40%SEISS
My clients have *asked* me to keep the slot free

Iíd pay a retainer if it was my choice not to have the cleaner and she was willing to continue to work - my current cleaner is worth every single penny and as someone said above, cleaners may well be 10 a penny, but the good reliable ones are worth their weight in gold and when you find one, you keep them!

We continued to pay our cleaner the full amount during the first lockdown. It wasnít her fault she wasnít allowed to work for us and we could afford to pay her as our income wasnít affected.
I think a 25% retainer is more than reasonable.

I hate it when clients do that. The messier and dirtier the better. I get so much satisfaction looking at it when it's dy

I'm a Community Carer and years ago we were sent by Social Services into the homes of hoarders to try and sort the home out. I used to love these challenges and seeing the difference when we finished. Although sometimes it was fighting a losing battle which was very sad😟. The girl I worked with and I christened ourselves Kim and Aggie😂.

I think you should ask for at least 50% if they are the ones that are cancelling you, and if they want you to return afterwards.
