It is definitely my favourite water park! I usually stay on site at Universal so we get in an hour early. If you're staying off site I would still arrive as early as possible because the crowds don't tend to start coming in until lunch time and you'll get a lot of slides done in the first couple of hours.

If you buy a refillable freestyle cup at the Universal parks you can also take it to Volcano bay or vice versa.

The biggest queue is usually the aqua coaster I would get a return time for this first. The drop slides at the top of the Volcano also get big queues on busy days.

Before you go I'd have a look on YouTube at the different food they offer. There's a lot of choice but it's actually really nice! The flatbread pizzas are my favourite.

Bring your own towel as they do charge around $5 to rent them. They also charge you for lockers the smaller ones are $10 for a day and the family ones are around $15 per day.

Make sure you go in the fearless river it's great fun!

I'm staying at Cabana Bay (hopefully) - can I take towels for the hotel/hotel pools?

You can. We we’re staying at RPR and checked with reception. Best to grab them the day before if you’ll be heading out before the pools open.

You can also go to the Gym and take them from there too!

Absolutely love VB, my fave water park, and this as a non-swimmer! Aqua coaster as mentioned is the best ride, get to that one first. We would go with our swimmers on underneath our clothes so we could find the loungers, and leg it quick to the rides. We also went to the back of the park where it’s much quieter. Also the raft rides that come out on top of the water aren’t too scary. I can’t do the ones where you would come out underwater, but my kids love all the rides there. Water shoes are a must, the surface can be hot/rough at times

We’ve been a couple of times and loved it. Like others have said, worth the research beforehand. I find the layout confusing and still haven’t got my head round which slide is which. Planning on going again next year and will definitely be doing a bit more research on which ride is which to make sure we get on all the slides I am brave enough to try.
