Just tried to get in at the doctors ha ha

I haven’t bothered our doctors for a year and a half

On Wednesday something bit my leg when I was walking the dog

So obviously it has got bigger and nastier so I went to the pharmacy and spoke to them and got hydrocortisone cream which didn’t work

Thought I would try the doctors

I offered to send a photo if I couldn’t bee seen

Got put on hold for a bit and then got told they don’t deal with this and if I want to be seen I should go to minor injuries

I live 200 metres from the doctors surgery, there is never anyone there

Now I have to drive 6 miles to town to go to the local hospital minor injury’s unit

What do you think? I feel a little let down

GPs have now been instructed to open doors for F2F from 16th May

Minor injuries is the most appropriate place to handle your situation so I would go there. You probably don't need to see a GP so this will save space for those that do.

Yes NHS England has told them all patients who want F2F must be offered

Every patient to have right to see a GP as NHS abandons ‘total triage’
Climbdown comes after The Telegraph revealed patients were being discouraged from visits and told to have online or phone discussion first

NHS England has said GP practices must start opening their receptions and allow people to book face-to-face appointments — scrapping the controversial ‘total triage’ rule — for the first time since the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

I saw my GP this morning.

He was in Tesco. Must be his day off.

Surely seeing a gp for 5 mins is less costly to the NHS than seeing several people before you are even seen at these medical centres/hospitals?

I had a query that needed looking at a few months ago and when I phoned my GP I got an appointment the same day and a follow up scan 2 weeks later. It seems to be very variable around the country
