Another cheap full fat cola. Gammon is delicious and very moist.

Only slight downer for us is normally when we cook Gammon in maple syrup we get left with a really thick treacly like sauce which is slightly bitter and I love drizzled on top of the cauli cheese.

I am not such a fan of the post cooking cola liquor. Perhaps because it is less concentrated possibly ?

So anyway, gammon delish, sauce not so. Gammon nice wither hot or cold.

Also used full fat fizzy orange. Really tasty.

Sorry forgot to say. I don't soak the gammon first but I do rinse off under cold running water. Then sling it in and walk away 🙂

I use Diet Coke. 45 mins in the pressure cooker, cover with mix of marmalade and mustard and 30 minutes in the air fryer to crisp up.

I think the diet coke method is s slimming world method, I don’t follow slimming world so not 100% sure but as I am dieting I doubt full fat would be good although I am not sure how much sugar could/would soak into the gammon.
I have bought diet so stuck with that now. We don’t drink fizzy pop so everyone was asking why is there a bottle of pepsi max in the kitchen 🤣🤣🤣

I use Doctor Pepper or Cherry cola (full fat)
I soak in cold water for thirty minutes first, throw in a large pan, cover with cola, and simmer for couple of hours.
Then i drizzle with black treacle, mustard powder, and put into hot oven for twenty minutes to glaze. Let it rest under foil before carving. Lovely with baked potatoes and beans, or mac n cheese.

Done this a number of times and love it .
Only ever cooked it in full bodied coke , never soaked gammon before hand and tasted good , not salty .
I normally take skin off and score in diamonds , brush with maple syrup and roast for 30 mins .
I’m sure you will enjoy it 🤤

I usually boil in water first then drain off and do in coke( full sugar). Remove rind score fat then coat with English mustard syrup and stud cloves. Have also used same method but sustitute coke for pineapple juice

I don’t know what happened but this was a disaster 🙈
I rinsed the gammon joint, cut all visible fat off and sat it in the slow cooker over chopped onion then covered with pepsi max.
After 8 hours it was tender and fell apart however no one could eat it. I eat as much as I could then felt really sick all evening 🤢

Much as I love Pepsi Max, I wouldn't use it for gammon. Normal coke with onions, cloves and peppercorns, and don't cut the fat off until after you've cooked it. I would imagine that pepsi max would leave a weird bitter taste as it's lacking the sugar syrup of the non-diet drinks.

Pepsi max (cherry or ginger) to drink. Normal coke for cooking. It'll be better next time.
