Ford explorer 5 or 7 seats

Can someone confirm if a Ford explorer is 5 or 7 seats, if you book with budget it states 7 seats but british airways are saying it’s 5 seats, other companies seem to vary between the 5 or 7 seats as well. Currently have a Chevy suburban booked but we don’t need that size now as less people are going.

Both options are available, but will depend on which class of car you book.

Both companies states it’s an s class, only seems to be one option for an explorer.

Group L is the Premium SUV range which is 7 seater vehicles (Chevy Suburban)
Group S is the Standard Elite SUV range which is 7 seater vehicles (Chevy Traverse / Ford Explorer)
Group Z is the Full-Size SUV range which is 7 seater vehicles (Chevy Tahoe)
Group W is the Standard SUV range which is 5 seater vehicles (Ford Edge)

So Groups L, S and Z are the 7 seater SUV's. The 5 seater equivalent to group S is group W.

So if you still wanted 7 seats a group S car would fit the need, or you could drop further

I didn’t think the Explorers were made with only 5 seats any more, I’m sure from 2016 onwards they all have the potential for 7 seats.

You can still buy them as 5,6 or 7 seaters.

5 seater just doesn't have the 3rd row fitted, 6 has the captains chairs in the second row and the 7 seater as 3 seats in the 2nd row and the 3rd row.

All of the bodies are the same now which is what changed I believe.

Last one we rented in 2018 was a 5 seater version, but it was in the 5 seater group, so no surprise there.
