Hair dryer decision and now straightners

Seeing as my daughter will be going away for university she will need a hairdryer and some GHD’s as she currently uses mine.
She is 18 next month so I am going to get them as part of her birthday presents. I am definitely getting her GHD’s but not sure on what hairdryer to get. She needs one that comes with a diffuser because her hair is naturally curly so she goes straight or curly depending on mood.
I can get a standard hairdryer & diffuser for around £35 but GHD do a hairdryer & diffuser for about £110 (comes with a free brush).
As its her 18th I am tempted to get the GHD hairdryer to match the straighteners but and its a big BUT, she is a tramp 🙈 her room is always a mess. She will spend a whole day cleaning and tidying it but within days its a mess again with everything from coats to knickers dumped on the floor! My hair dryer & straighteners are always dumped at the foot of her bed (still plugged in, so a trip hazard) she certainly doesn’t take care of them. But is that because they are mine, maybe she would take better care of her own? (I doubt it).
My husband thinks we should get the cheaper hairdryer because surely a hair dryer is a hairdryer, what can a GHD hairdryer offer that’s better than a normal hairdryer?

She is already getting a lot, cash, Tiffany necklace, pink gin & gin glass.

£110 is a lot for a hairdryer. I'd get a really nice non GHD one up to £50.

I would go with the moderately priced hairdryer you have found rather than the GHD one. I wouldn’t opt for a very cheap one though as that’s false economy imho.

I wouldn't spend 110 on a hairdryer. Mine was 30 and I've had it for 8 years.

Plus I wouldnt spend that if she was taking it to uni! Things get broken and go missing all the time.

As above, a cheaper hair dryer will be fine. DD rarely blow dries her hair as it dries it out so a moderate priced one with a good speed should be fine. A quick search has led me to this one which is currently half price in Boots:

boots/babyliss-air-p...dryer-10283644

I have the Tresemme version and am more than happy with it:

boots/tresemme-2200-...dryer-10130821

Don’t worry about her room being a mess .. I have no doubt this will change at uni when flat mates start to come into her room!

I can remember a post a while back and many posters recommended Parlux hairdryers.
Personally though, if it is to take to uni I would get the cheaper one. She would be upset if it went missing. Maybe get the matching GHD one another time just to use at home.

If I was spending that money I wouldn’t buy a GHD hairdryer anyway. My daughter has one and it’s nowhere near as good as a Parlux (which is also better than the Dyson IMO)
Not sure how much a Parlux is these days but take a look at them or a Diva. Both highly recommended by hairdressers

I still use a snoopy hair dryer with a child lock I got bought to go to boarding school when I was 8. It just won’t break. Will have been cheap as chips then, nearly 30 years ago 😂

I have a dyson hairdryer so am not averse to expensive hairdressers, but I can’t see what is the point of difference in a ghd hairdryer that justifies the cost, looks like any other hairdryer. So I would go for something average priced.

I will be looking for a Snoopy hairdryer for myself later today though.

Go cheap at Uni. Shared/borrowed/misplaced/borrowed & not returned.
