Contemplating making alternative plans
If our July holiday is cancelled which is looking likely 😢
I am currently pricing up a few days away in this country. A few days at Alton Towers hotel & park and 3 days in a caravan near by. So just short of a week will be £1200 for the 5 of us. There is a cancellation offer in the Alton Towers but the caravan money would be lost. Not quite sure what to do 🤔 |

Just had a quick look at a package holiday aboard.
W haven’t done a package holiday for 15 years so I have no idea how they work. The problem is if I book one for July the whole amount will need paying but if Florida goes ahead we will obviously go to Florida. If we leave it until June can you still get good package holiday deals for July? Or will all the best deals for green countries be all booked up by mud June? We haven’t been away for 3 years and we are going away one way or another 🤣 |

second loulou's advice re the non a towers part. we have booked a cottage for a week in wiltshire through booking.com, cancellable and no outlay yet. i booked in feb, but am paying £650 for a two bed. i can cancel up to two days before, but will only be doing that if rules prevent.

Things are obviously different this year - even though it pretty much still feels the same 😔 but last year when we had to cancel our Florida holiday, we bagged a one week all inclusive for 2ad 2 teenagers to Gran Canaria for £1400. This was with Tui and the first time I’d booked a package holiday in years. We booked it a week before we flew. (July) Probably, never get it that cheap again - but you never know.

I wouldn't be booking ANYTHING that isn't easy to cancel.
If you're set on alton towers, definitely look at an Airbnb. Not all of them have free cancellation but a lot do. We stayed on a beautiful farm in the Peak district a couple of years ago, was just under an hour from AT and we did loads of other things too. |
