Is it only me?

We have our plumber coming tomorrow to fit some new radiator valves to towels rails in 2 bathrooms and our downstairs cloakroom.

He will obviously make a mess, I understand that, so, why do I feel the need to scrub them top to bottom today before he makes a mess tomorrow?

We can live with the small amount of dust in the corner and a streak of limescale on the shower but I just can't allow the plumber to see it!

I think I must be bonkers!

Not alone. It's the sort of thing I do too.

Don't even get me started on the big house clean before setting off on holiday. My to do list gets longer instead of shorter.

Me too - I even clean the oven before we go on holiday - just in case any burglars want to cook anything (DH says!)

Honestly some of the things workmen see would amaze you, they aren't going to be bothered in the least by a bit of dirt where they are working. I never clean up before workmen come, except for decently bleaching the toilet cos don't want them working in a smelly toilet room

I think if it gives them the impression you are very clean and particular with your home - they will take more care . If it’s a mess they might be more sloppy? Just my thinking ..

My husband used to laugh when I cleaned before the cleaner came. Didn't want her thinking we lived in a messy house😂. I did leave her chores such as the ironing though.

Can I assure you the things Builders see and find would make your hair stand on end. Some people live like animals surrounded in filth and rubbish.

Start moving bedroom furniture and it makes a buzzing noise!

Go up in the roof space and find all kinds of weird photos just lying around with people who don't seem to have any clothes!

What never worked with me was Ladies saying money was tight that Month and having 6" of cleavage hanging out. Mmm, very nice. Cash please.
