The guidelines have been updated on the goverment website
"There are further restrictions in place: If you live at university, you must not move back and forward between your permanent home and student home during term time. You should only return home at the end of term for Christmas. We will publish further guidance on the end of term."

How is uni life going during lockdown? My DS has stayed at uni and they are planning covid tests from 30th November so fingers crossed he will be negative and will be able to come home.
DS lives in a flat of 6. It seems all apart from 2 of them have already sorted out accommodation for year 2. Has anyone sorted accommodation out yet? DS is struggling because he hasn't really made friends from his course and didn't already know anyone there? How do you go about arranging accommodation when you don't know anyone and can't view anywhere due to the current situation? |

Getting Excited

My DS Uni sounds very similar to yours. Covid swab from 30th and they have to book a day and time slot for us to pick them up between 5th-9th, same as when we dropped him off. He gets on well with his floor of 8 but not sure if they have talked about accommodation for next year. He is similar in that he hasn’t really met anyone from his course and when they have had in person lectures they have to wear masks and sit distanced so it’s not easy to get to know people.

DD not sorted for next year yet. Mainly as she doesn’t know enough people face to face to make the decision to live with them! 🤣

Mines not looking yet.
She is a flat of 4 but the other 3, although friendly when she sees them, are not very sociable - 2 of them always eat in their rooms, and they've never all been in the kitchen at the same time yet! She has tried a couple of times to arrange going out for tea pre lockdown, which they said yes to but then backed out at the last minute, so she has found it very isolating so far. She wants to be sure she shares with people similar to herself next year. She has made contact with 3 girls on her course, and they met up outside pre lockdown a couple of times, and they are chatting and plan to meet up when they can as they're all in different accommodation blocks. She said these are the only people shes met! Its so hard for them at the moment. Edited at 08:53 PM. |

I've just been on the class of 2023 thread as ds2 starts in September and remembered this one.
How is everyone getting on? My son is graduating on 21st July and going back to the University of York in September to start his Masters. I can't believe how quickly his 3 years at York have flown. |

Excited about Disney
|
Hasn't it flown by! My DD has about a month to go but won't graduate until November.
Funnily enough she has her first job interview tomorrow. She has loved her time at Uni and is a little nervous about heading into 'the real world '. I hope everyone else's young people have enjoyed their 3 years |
