Security Checks When Leaving MCO

My daughters have informed me that a new level of security checks have been introduced when going through security at MCO, was looking for anyone to confirm or explain the situation (without the drama that comes attached by my 2 daughters )

Apparently all food is swabbed, packets of sweets opened and swabbed etc...as we normally take sandwiches from Earl of Sandwich with us for the flight home, this would apparently involve security taking the sandwich apart and swabbing the individual elements of the sandwich... which seems very over the top, but according to some Disney blogs the girls follow is what has been introduced.

Anyone got experience of coming through MCO security recently and can either confirm this?

Mmm. I haven't heard or seen that being done. We left MCO on the 16th September and never saw anything different to the norm.

Mind you we are always TSA Pre so get through quicker.

Thanks, I have checked the threads and thought this would be something that would be all over the forums if it was the case...

We didn't have anything like that in August, but we were TSA, I don't know if that makes a difference.

TSA Pre is where you are selected due to your travel history and also the Airline participating in the scheme.
You can spot the lanes at MCO where you enter as they are alongside the normal ones.

No iPads out of cases, no shoes off and through in minutes. Great scheme and you see it printed on your boarding pass.

We are enrolling for Global Entry soon so we can get through Immigration a lot quicker as well.

We went through recently and I was chosen for pre check but my sister wasn’t. She was then also chosen for extra screening which involved her being told to remove any food from her bag which she kept with her, waiting for ages on someone taking her bag, taking out her purse, looking in it and giving her it all back. They didn’t examine the food at all but I did see them look at food the woman before her had. It all seemed a bit random and slow.

Lisa. Do you know if they actually opened the food up for that other Lady, not your Sister please?

Interesting this as if they opened up food I had (which I dont anyhow) I wouldn't want it back as their rubber gloves must be contaminated.

This is exactly our concern, if these checks are in place then so be it...but it means we won't be taking food to the airport, also we usually have a fair selection of sweets/snacks from MNSSHP and left over snack credits so won't be taking these to the airport either...

We flew back on the 26th Sept and every food item in our hand luggage was swabbed including just bought Taffy and chocolates, my tub of chewing gum, unopened bags of crisps etc. I think a lot of people were caught out as it really slowed security down.
