Oh my goodness what a stressful thread, so glad you made your flight. Lesson learned here drive to the airport the day before and take as least flights as possible to your destination. BA seriously let you down.

Like everyone else we have read this thread all through and can imagine you all charging from trains to underground to Heathrow Express and rushing through the terminal.

Our son is an engineer with BA and he said that today has been a nightmare but they should have communicated better with them in Manchester.

Certainly the two children have something to tell their friends when they get back home as well as the rest of their holiday.

So happy they got on the flight and can now have a well deserve rest

WOW - just picked up and read this one from start to end, best thriller I've read for years, was on the edge of my seat, fair play to the OP family, especially the kids, I am sooooo glad they made the flight, let's hope the rest of the holiday is seamless, rewarding and relaxing

Just finished reading this. So glad you finally made it to the plane OP. Disappointing BA didn't keep your seats and I think I'd definitely be putting a complaint in about how everything was handled. Enjoy your holiday when you get there.

Honestly, I am so regretting it. We fly with them for the first time soon, from Gatwick, and with the strikes, cancellations and other problems it will be the first and last!
My brother was flying with them Newcastle - Heathrow - Toronto today. They got to Heathrow luckily (as the next BA flight was cancelled at short notice) and were then put onto an Air Belgium plane instead of BA. Farcical.

I wouldn't stress too much. This is obviously been a hellish experience for the OP and others will have had difficulty with BA too but keep in mind they've been in business for decades and do manage to get an awful lot right.

It can happen with any airline, and it's statically shown that people will share a negative experience before a positive one.

On the whole, they are a very good airline.
