I agree it gets worse with age, I am not a good sleeper at the best of times and have found no solution. All I can say it's a bit better when we fly on Dreamliner.

I definitely think it gets worse with age, both myself and my husband suffer more with it now. This year we bought Melatonin in the US as it’s recommended at lot on here and neither of us suffered with jet lag.

Yep, I’m struggling at the moment. Exhausted downstairs but when I go to bed can’t sleep!

Another vote for Melatonin - changed my holidays return that has. Used to have over a week of feeling ill, now 2 or 3 night of a bit iffy sleep, then fine.

How should this be taken to help combat jet lag please?

I think... melatonin is naturally produced by the body and helps with your sleep cycle.

I took 2 tablets 1/2 hour before I went to bed as instructed on the bottle and definitely slept a lot better than I would with jet lag. I took it for 3 nights. I think some people take it on the flight home.

I have a secret weapon to counter jet lag as I have grown older...

With BA its called Club and Virgin Upper Class.

Once you have experienced either, there is no going back.

Just remember as always, melatonin cannot be taken by everyone. It is a synthetic hormone which interacts with some drugs. Check with a doctor first.

Or do what melatonin does - Darkness causes the body to produce more melatonin, which signals the body to prepare for sleep. Shut the curtains, dim the lights for an hour before going to bed, put an eye mask on when you go to bed.
