London Underground question
We have a day in London in transit. Before I book anything can someone please tell me this is possible or that I’ve read it righ on the tfl website.
Underground from T5 at Heathrow to Hyde Park - no changes then Covent Garden back to T5 again no changes. That I don’t need an Oyster card as I have contactless so it just a case of swiping when I go through turnstiles ? And do I have to swipe at the other end ! This day is proving more stressful to plan the the rest of the three week holidays ! Thanks to anyone who can put my mind at rest... |

Yes, just swipe in and out of each station with your debit card.

Yes you can use a contactless card for payment, you will need to tap at the end, this will be apparent as you won't be able to get out of the station otherwise. Yes from top of my head I think all those three stations are on the Piccadilly line in which case no changes.

One thing if you are going soon, take a bottle of water with you, it can get quite hot on the tube in the summer.

Where are you going from Hyde Park Corner? It’s a bit ‘middle of nowhere’ and very easy to get lost in the subway.
Also there are some times on some days that Covent Garden station is ‘exit only’ because it gets so busy. Worth checking.

The bomber command statue is almost opposite hard rock cafe, so you could always call in for a cheeky hurricane 😉

Sounds good. Yes, the memorial is right there. How are you getting to HoP? You could walk through Green Park and St James’ Park, and then down to HoP. Or walk to Green Park station and take the Jubilee line one stop to Westminster - HoP is right outside.
Your travel will be capped so it doesn’t matter how many journeys you make.

Ignore me, looks like Covent Garden is no longer ‘exit only’ these days.
By the way - tell me you won’t have luggage with you?
