Mobile Hair colour help!

My hairdresser has cancelled due to illness and I'm going away at the weekend. Currently with grey roots

I usually have dark brown on them, my mid lengths and ends are lighter- almost ombre but it's natural colour. I think I have a 4 and a 5 mixed?

Shop bought dyes don't cover my roots anymore, I've tried a few different brands. Can anyone recommend any that cover stubborn greys? I have a boots, Superdrug or supermarkets nearby.

I've tried the root cover up stuff too, hate the feeling of it on my hair and there is too much regrowth (5 weeks) to cover whilst on holiday.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve got really bad grey roots at the moment as my hairdresser was closed for a refurb. The best thing I’ve found is to use coloured shampoo either on its own or mixed in with a conditioner treatment. I leave this on for about a hour and it works better than and root cover up. Normally lasts a few washes before the grey comes through. Hope that helps

Oo never tried a colour shampoo. What brand do you recommend? I'm worried the shop dye will come out too dark and look blocky- usually my hairdresser covers the roots but also weaves the colour through the lengths.

Oh blimey, what a nightmare! I’m currently well overdue doing my roots but with going away next week I’m waiting until this weekend. I use Clairol Nice n Easy Age Defy, No 4 although I will admit it doesn’t take as well as it used to so I do use the root touch up stuff in between times. It does feel awful though, I’ve never like hairspray either and it’s even worse!

I’m blonde now and use one called Infuse my colour which you can get on Amazon but not sure if they do one for brown hair. When I had brown hair I used John Frieda brilliant brunette. boots/beauty/hair/sh...250ml-10217249 . I’ve been tempted to get a dye from the shop but think it could be a disaster!

I would see if you can get an appointment at another hairdresser quick, I have grey roots and only the stuff at the salon will cover it

Hope you find a solution

I have used this before and quite good but only lasts a few washes. I now tend to use Superdrug Wash in Wash out no 4 brown. I only use this to cover grey hair, I am not grey all over but have quite a few keen ones. This lasts for about 4 or 5 washes but I wash my hair everyday. It does dye your hands, neck and anything else bright red when you use it so be careful. Leave it on about 5 mins and wash well.
