Connecting flights BA/Virgin

Hi

Just looking for a bit of reassurance really. We fly out on Friday...excitement levels have reached fever pitch

We’re flying Glasgow to Gatwick with BA and then Gatwick to Orlando with Virgin. It’s all booked through Virgin and they’ve assured me that as it’s on one ticket our baggage will be checked in at Glasgow and we won’t see it again until Orlando... I’m nervous though that with it being 2 different flight providers that this might not happen.

Can someone please reassure me that I’ll have clothes to wear at the other end?

Thanks xx

If you’ve booked it as a single itinerary with Virgin, I’m sure it is on one ticket. This is called interlining, an agreement between airlines that allows them to issue tickets combining each others’ flights and checking bags between them on a single ticket. On such a ticket, your bags would be checked through to MCO from GLA. Although BA and Virgin are rivals, they do have an interline agreement for exactly this purpose.

Some extra ways you can reassure yourself:

> If you look at the booking on the Virgin website, do the BA flights also show? This shows the flights are on the same booking.

> When you check the bags at GLA, take a look at the tags attached. If have both MCO and LGW printed on them, bags are checked through to MCO.

Of course, bags do get delayed (even on direct flights), and the only way you can be completely certain of having something to wear at MCO is to take a change of clothes in hand luggage. That aside, you should be reassured that all being well, your bags will appear as planned at MCO.

Enjoy your trip.

Thank you so much, The BA flight is showing on my booking on the Virgin app so that is reassuring 😁.

I’ll check the baggage labels too when I check in, thank you so much you’ve put my mind at rest.
