Hi!

After our August flights were cancelled as they were with TC, we’re looking for replacement flights. We’re not really finding anything close to the £600 we paid for the TC ones apart from indirect. The closest prices I’m getting are for indirect. I’ve found a flight leaving Manchester going to Orlando with a 2 hour stopover in Philadelphia each way for £650pp. Would you do it/Has anyone flown this route? It’s with BA and I’ve only ever flown direct with virgin but I’d be happy with BA - unsure about the stop over though.

We done this route a few years ago though out bound was cancelled and we were put on the virgin direct flight kids were gutted ! Flight home via philli was an absolute doddle in fact we really enjoyed looking around the airport and had a meal there.
I would definitely do it again with out no problem at all

The flights will be with American Airlines. We've done this route and it was great. PHL airport is really easy to navigate and plenty of places to eat and sit. Would do this route again without hesitation.

Came home yesterday from this route albeit not MCO but same transatlantic section.

The flight out was fab but god knows what the plane coming back was ! So old, yellowing, no TVs only a few dotted around which played 1 thing.

Never knew this was still possible.

But ... nice big comfy seats and I did sleep so yes I would use the route again.

Both my return transatlantics with AA have been on old donkeys, outbound on more modern planes with IFE. Didn't bother me too much as I usually try to sleep. I believe next year they are using the Dreamliners on this route so things should improve.

What happens when you fly indirect? Do you not see your cases until the final destination? Do you have to check in again at Philadelphia?

I've done this route b4, personally like more than 2 hrs but as long as you aren't delayed its fine.

You collect your bags at philly and then have to put them on a conveyor to go on the 2nd flight.

Cant remember if we checked in again, don't think we did

Did you go through immigration there or when you got to Florida?

You'll go through immigration in Philadelphia. I wouldn't be keen to pay that much for indirect (we paid just under £1000 for 2 adults and a teen indirect out of heathrow for August 19) but I understand choices out of Manchester are limited now.

We have done this route loads of times since the year 2000, originally with US Airways and latterly with American Airlines. Its a good route to take and the 2 hours is enough to get you through immigration and customs.
