Mobile Booking with a US Your Operator for 2022 Disney Cruise.

Hi there as the pandemic has put on hold my 2021 plans Mr Lilo has thrown me a saviour line. A Disney cruise if I can hold on for 2022. Ok so we are looking at Disney Cruise line travel agents USA. Would there be any disadvantages if we booked with a US travel agent for 2022 especially if anything like this pandemic occured again? Should say in UK booking with s US TA. Thank you all.

I have booked with Dreams Unlimited. I originally choose them for my now cancelled September 2020 Disney Cruise.

They give a % of your cruise fare as onboard credit, which for me was $100.

They are based in Florida and its email only communication.

During the year up to the time my cruise was cancelled, my assigned travel agent was great. Just remember the time zone differences.

In my original booking I had requested a specific stateroom. When the agent put the booking through, that room was no longer available, so I accepted my second choice of room.

A few days later my agent emailed to say that my first choice was now available and would I like to switch. Of course I said yes.

If I had booked DIY I would never have the time to keep checking to see if my first choice became available.

Then when my 2020 cruise was finally cancelled my travel agent was AMAZING

This is where the benefit really kicks in, as my travel agent is one on the phone spending hours on hold to Disney Cruise Line sorting out my cancellation and re booking. Not me. I just emailed what I wanted to rebook and within a few days, everything sorted.

My travel agent even managed to rebook the same room for my 2021 cruise.

Dreams Unlimited get paid by commission from Disney, so you pay exactly the same for the cruise as you would if you did DIY direct through Disney Cruise Line Website.

If you have an USA postage address such as a family member, they will also sent out a free gift box of useful stuff for the cruise. They don't sent this internationally, unfortunately.

They have a passenger login in on their website and thats how you pay for the cruise. You can pay in installments, whatever amount you can afford at the time. You get an email from your travel agent as soon as the payment goes through.

You also get your Disney confirmation number, so you can link your reservation straight away on the Disney Cruise Line App.

I paid in US Dollars which then got converted to Euros by my Irish credit card company. I think , due to the exchange rates, that what I actually paid in Euros after conversions and foreign transactions fees was less than I would have paid if I paid through the European version of the Disney Cruise Line website.

I, and quite a few other Dibbers use Travel on a Dream. Fantastic service both before, during and after your cruise and they have been invaluable during this crisis when I had two cruises cancelled by Disney. They offer an onboard credit which is a nice bonus and take the hassle out of waiting on hold to contact Disney, especially when new cruises are released. I think you’re safer booking with a US travel agent as you have all of Disney’s cancellation policies in place, of sure if they same would apply with a UK agent.

I found when I was originally planning to book my now cancelled cruise that the UK / Irish high street travel agents did not have much knowledge about Disney Cruise Line. Any of the ones I went into, they just took the brochure off the shelf and read me what was in the brochure.

The UK / Irish high street travel agents also do not offer any onboard credit.

And as we have seen over the last 3 months when you book with a UK / Irish high street travel agents you are really low priority when things go wrong.

At least booking with a USA Specialist Disney Travel Agents, you get years of personal experience as most of them have been on multiple Disney cruises on multiple ships.

You also don't have to ring Disney Cruise Line to sort out issues, your American travel Agent will do that.

You can be as flexible as you like, you can get them to book all excursions you can do it yourself.

Just to say there is another issue about UK travel agents in case people think about using them. Quite often their Paid In Full date doesn't line up with DCLs. This can then cause issues when trying to book activities etc so something to bare in mind.

US TA's as others have mentioned often include a gift of some sort. I use In Touch Vacations as the best TA I have found moved to them two years ago from Pixie Vacations. I have also used Dreams Unlimited and Travel on a Dream. All are good for different reasons but its really finding the person you think works best for you. My TA allows me to do all the important bits like booking things and planning but is always there if I have a question.

I have used Virgin Holidays for one cruise (was cheaper for a Disney & Cruise holiday than separately) but they were really poor and providing any information and actually ended up messing up my transfers. I'd still probably use them again if the price was right but I'd be cautious.

The biggest downside of booking with a US TA is that its in $s which means the price is a little volatile. Sometimes it works out better sometimes it doesn't. However because you book with a US TA and the price is in $s you can actually order online gifts which you can't if booked in £s you have to phone to order.
