I dont understand why you wouldn't give them the reference number. They would then be able to discuss it fully with all the details.
Plus you are saying you would be happy to change destination so why not make a call and ask what th options may be so that you have time to consider your options

I think sone of you are missing the point.
I have given them the booking ref, my point was it was a question in general. I have a response from them and they will give us either 8,9 or 10 days notice depending where on the weekend our travel date falls. This is regardless of whether the airline has cancelled or not.
I have spoken to James Villas we can’t cancel...thanks for that idea!
I want them to make a decision one way or the other if the other I can re arrange.

I’ve never said I wouldn’t give them the ref number. I have given it! I said the question was a general point and would apply to anyone with a package deal in this climate and that knowing the booking ref was neither here nor there.

I have called them but they won’t cancel until around the 7 day . However they answered my question and will provide either 8,9 or 10 days because I have a weekend flight and they are closed!

According to their website they are contacting customers flying in the next 7 days but as you have booked a package you are protected

Your first post seemed to imply that you didnt give your booking reference to them

I would imagine that by providing your booking reference, this would ensure that the telephone conversation recording is linked to your booking, thereby protecting both parties in the event of a dispute over what advice was given.

So our holiday to the Algarve was cancelled yesterday at 3 pm then came the announcement Portugal had been opened.
Too late fie us as we’d booked Greece by then.
