Final payslip

Morning everyone just wondering if anyone can shed some light on my final payslip.
Having been made redundant ( no redundancy payout only been there 10 months) I have today received my final payslip, I have received my basic months salary, holiday pay and one weeks notice pay which is what I was expecting however there is a backpay deduction which is equal to my basic months salary so I have now been left with hardly anything.
Can anyone explain to me what backpay is and why I would of had this deducted.
Thanks for your help

I was also thinking it could be your hoilday.

Holidays are pro rata. Depending on your holiday year ( Jan to Dec/ Apr to Mar) you are allowed so many days. If you take more holiday than you have accrued/earned your employer can take that money back. Check your contract. Also to get an idea, check the Holiday calculator on Gov.uk, its really helpful.

If its not that then i would give HR a ring.

Sorry to hear this- Are you usually paid in advance or arrears?

I was wondering if you were paid in advance and therefore had already had your final months salary.

It sounds like annual leave adjustment - I had the similar when I retired this year. It’s ll the checks and balances once you leave employment but your HR department should be able to provide you a full breakdown on request

This would be my bet - I think* that we are paid 3 weeks in advance and 1 in arrears ... definitely ask HR

I think we are paid 2 weeks in advance, 2 weeks in arrears which is why I asked.

I can’t see that taking back holiday allowance with 10 months worked could equate to a months salary.

Thanks everyone.
I had two days holiday owing from last year and this year I was unable to take any due to COVID-19 and being extremely short staffed.
To be honest I’m not sure how we were paid although wages are paid on the 28th of each month and adjustments are allowed up to the end of the second week of that month.
What’s even funnier is my redundancy letter states I will get 12 weeks notice which I don’t need to work however I knew that was probably a mistake as I haven’t been there long enough, not sure they know what they’re doing to be honest.
