Thanks everyone. Can't think why visiting the airport never occurred to me! (I'll blame planning stress! &#128518

I think I'll play it by ear and see how he goes on. If he's not coping with things, we can rethink.

In Disneyland Paris you need to show proof such as a DLA letter/Blue badge etc to access the pass but in America you don't.

Not sure which airport you are travelling from, but Gatwick airport have an autism guide to Gatwick airport which they emailed me. It contained visuals of check in, security, the departure gate etc. May be something like this would help your son and at least give him a small idea of what to expect.

I think you should go for a lanyard. It might not negate all problems but should help. My son has autism, and and severe anxiety. Thus from my experience of this you should definitely tap into these services.
