Foodie recommendations please .. oh and budget friendly ;)

Hi Guys

we are off to the WC in a couple of weeks and would love some budget friendly foodie recommendations

we are staying just off the Chinese theatre, santa monica on the beach and the onto las vegas.
its a family of 5 with teenage boys, and im trying to find as budget friendly as possible.

also we have a kitchen in most of the accomidation (except SM) so was thinking of doing odd meals back there but not sure how easily it is to find walmarts ?

Thanks for any tips
Lisa x

Hi - assuming you're looking to avoid chains (if not then you'll find the usual suspects of Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, Bubba Gumps etc) then in Santa Monica I can recommend La Veccia Cucina on Main st (great italian, not cheap but reasonable prices) and if you are in Santa Monica on a Tuesday there is a weekly food truck meetup where you can get some fantastic food ... link californiaheritagemuseum...od-trucks.html

In n Out burger is good, Pinks hotdogs, Chipotle (Mexican food chain), Nate n ALS deli in Beverly Hills but cheap and huge portions if you’re visiting there, Roscoes Chicken and waffles, Pink Taco, food markets like Farmers Market at the Grove and the Grand Central market downtown.

You’ll find plenty of supermarkets but Walmart is not as common out west

Where are you staying in Vegas Lisa and will try and suggest some Vegas foodie places. Will you have a car? Walmart is an easy 10/15 min drive from the strip.

We are planning West Coast next July. I would be interested to know what accommodation you have booked as I would ideally like a kitchen too.

You are obviously off strip and guess you will have a car. You can try Ellis Island on Koval Lane. Steak dinner for $9.99. On the strip, In and Out Burger, Dennys, and Miracle Mile shops by Planet Hollywood has loads of reasonable little eating places. Gordon Ramsays fish n chips at Linq promenade and Panda Express in Miracle Mile.
The above link will show you to the nearest Walmart where prices are way cheaper than on the strip.
There is free parking by Planet Hollywood, otherwise I guess you know you pay a daily rate to park at any of the MGM hotels on the strip.

Thanks JoS .. yeah we are just behind the strip .. it does have shuttles to the shopping centers and strip but its only a 10 minute walk so hopefully not to bad as we can walk ok. We do have a car so walmart will be a must and we will probably pop in on way to the resort.
we have only been to WC once before and that was just me and OH so stayed at the venetian this time we have teenagers in tow so needed a bigger room lol x

Think if I am honest its at least 15 min walk but thats still not far. Just be careful in the heat. We have stayed at and loved Venetian.
