ESTA question
Hi everyone, just applied for our ESTA's on US site.
Just a bit concerned as to why after when we put in all the details, they have both come up ''pending'' as been 7 times before and each time before it went straight through...no problem, but this time they have come up with this? Does anyone please know what this means and why it's approved me after 10 minutes, but not my partner? Should we be concerned or is this the norm nowadays as obviously haven't applied for one until 2 years ago. |

The official web site suggests anything between instant and 72 hours for approval.
We've had live ESTAs since they were introduced in Jan 2009 so that's 5 or 6 each. All but one approved instantly. One came back pending so we logged back on around 10 minutes later and all OK From what I've read on here lately though instant approval seems very rare now and the majority come back pending initially. Hey!
I did my family's recently for our trip to NYC in December and have been to Florida for several years and we did notice ours were 'pending' for longer than normal. Not sure why only one of you has been accepted, ours were all accepted at once so maybe if this doesn't change it could be worth ringing? Although if there was any problem I'm assuming it would say denied, if you've been before and had no problems I wouldn't worry too much. |

It seems they check more stuff now, so that takes time. Somebody posted that the addresses are now checked against the US Postal system.

Thanks for your replies everyone, yes just logged back in now and it's now been approved, so maybe they do more background checks first.
Always concerning though! |

Renewed mine last week and it took about 40 minutes before it was approved! Definitely seemed slower this time.
