I don't expect the medicine it's self will cause the bag to be pulled, as it would just look like any bottle of liquid that is seen in peoples hold luggage I'm sure, but more concerned if it happens to get checked for random screening!
Peel off the prescriptions label put it on the outside side of the plastic bag If you need more stickers the dispensing chemist wil give you them

Quick question... if it goes in hand luggage and is over the 100ml assume I don't need to put it in a clear bag and I just put it in the tray with the prescription?
Annoyed with myself for not asking them to do this last week, will go back down and see if they will give me smaller bottles and labels , it’s on his repeat script

You can take it through as it's medicine, doesn't matter the size.
I took 300ml bottles of morphine through last month.

As long as it's labeled with the prescription and in the original box then it's fine.

I really would suggest taking it in your hand luggage though. Bring a doctors letter with a copy of your prescription too.

Just looking up the airports to check out the restaurants to decide where to get breakfast and thought I would just see what each policy says. Leeds Bradford basically says as long as you have a copy of your prescription or a letter from the doctor for the medicine you can take as much as you need in your carry on - brilliant... Heathrow says this

You can take enough essential liquid, aerosol or gel medicines in your hand luggage to cover your flight plus a reasonable amount to cover any delays. Any liquid, aerosol or gel medication not needed on the flight, together with any spares must be packed in your hold baggage.
indicating they only expect you to take a small amount in the carry on and the rest in the hold.

If anyone runs in to an A-nal security person who decides to carry this "rule" out to the letter then it will be us... it always is

Why have different rules - so unhelpful

I am only one person but used to be a security officer at Heathrow and I don't think I ever turned someone away with prescription medication no matter what size. As long as the prescription label was on the bottle, and that person was travelling, it was allowed. (I did have a woman say she had cream for her child but it was the child's cousin's prescription - that one was a no!)

Also, certainly at Heathrow, please let the loading officer know if you do have oversize medication as they have a special foam insert for the tray so it can be screened separately and won't roll around. They will probably check the prescription at loading and should the medication be subject to additional screening they may check it at bag search too.

Personally for peace of mind I'd explain to the chemist and ask for smaller plastic bottles, take one in your cabin bag and split the rest over everyone's luggage.

Great thank you for the reply - I am going to get several smaller bottles made up and put some in the hand luggage and 2 in the main cases "just in case"

Dd takes medication for her diabetes and we take it all in hand luggage because wouldn’t want it to get lost - every year we get a customs letter advising we will be carrying sharps and medication and that she is fit for travel. She also needs travel sick meds - this is what has caused the issue in the past. We always put it with the rest of the medication and more often than not they just scan it and look at it but coming home from the US is a different matter! Apparently there is an ingredient in it that is “iffy” over there and 1 year we had to have a superior customs officer come down and say it was ok.
