Does it matter when I download Uber/lyft apps

Hi

Never used lyft or Uber before but after reading how brilliantly cheap they are compared to mears etc will b using them for the first time this trip. I notice that u get offers when u first download the app so can anyone advise whether I should download the apps in the UK or wait til I get to Orlando to make sure any discount is in dollars or does it automatically exchange any discount to the local currency? Our first ride will b from the airport and as I usually temporarily leave my brain at 20000 feet after a long flight I would prefer to have the app already downloaded if it makes no difference.
Thanks

How you download the app matters more than when, do it in advance , not because of flight brain but because you need to make sure you've downloaded from a referral link so you get a few dollars off your first rides Anyone who already has the apps and has used them can refer you and you'll both yet the bonus (so make sure it's someone you like )
I just use the Clarity card or our Nat West debit as both come with no currency charges.

Ha ha I live out in the middle of nowhere deep in the heart of Norfolk and we don’t have lyft or Uber so not sure I know anyone that’s already using either unless I download it n use it n then I refer my daughter at least we would get something off our second and subsequent rides - thanks for the advice

You’d probably get better codes just by googling than the referral codes, don’t download until your close to your departure as I done this too early and the codes expired before I even got to Florida

My referral code is only giving me and the person I share it to £3 off.

In Vegas I used a hotel promo code which was on a flyer and it gave $10 off first ride.

my referral is much better when I login in the US! At home I am only a few pounds too, had a link to give the person I referred a free first ride up to $25 when I was over in Feb but alas it’s gone now.

I find Lyft much better for discounts. I’ve had it on my phone for 2 years now and there’s never a week that there’s not an offer going. They range from $3 off every ride for so many rides to really good ones like 50% off your next 3 rides. They are my go to now over Uber.

I agree Lyft fares are a little cheaper and there's always an offer popping up. In April it was a dollar off each ride but the day we arrived changed to 25% off our next ten rides.
Most drivers drive for both anyway.
