Revolut Card and Dollars.

Hello, I have a few thousand dollars left over from a previous trip, would I lose out if I converted back to sterling then transferred it on to the Revolut card ? I have never used this card before.

If you have the $USD as cash you are going to struggle to find anywhere that will give you a decent rate for the conversion back to £GBP. That is where you will lose money.

I would keep the $USD or try to sell them to friends/family who are going at a fair rate for both of you.

I would hold onto them if the truth be told if brexit goes the way it looks and the pound crashes you may make some real profit

From a previous trip you would of definitely got it at much better rate than you did now.

So as other posters have suggested either spread it out among your party or keep it for a future date.

You will definitely loose out changing it back to sterling then back again.

Nobody actually knows where the pound is heading with Brexit (most likely down but its real low so may not fall much more) so definitely worth keeping if you don't need it all for spending money as if it does and you cash it it then it you will make some cash.

It depends on what exchange rate you bought the dollars at - given that sterling is at its lowest point against the dollar in over 2 years then you may end up making a profit, but as the spread between buying and selling for notes is pretty high (anything from 5% to 20% depending on where you go) you may not. You'd need to factor in the commission/fee as well.
Might be best just to hold onto them for a future trip, or set up as a currency exchange for friends and family
