Medical Claims on Travel Insurance

Can anyone recommend travel insurance that they have made a medical claim on and have been well looked after with no problems please?

I used to use Holidaysafe who were recommended on Moneysavingexpert but have since found out that the underwriters TIF group are being investigated for fraud and not providing proper care. It's easy enough to find good policies that have the right cover but not so easy to find out what they're like when you're ill or injured abroad.

That's interesting as Puffin use the TFI group as underwriters so good to hear that they do pay out.

My mum and dad also used Puffin - my dad ended up with an ear infection which extended their holiday in Greece by almost 2 weeks - my mum said they were fantastic and everything was so easy.

I used AXA when I broke my foot in florida many years ago. I now only use them as they were so good. Very quick and painless especially when the hospital wouldn't treat me or give me pain medicine until the insurance company verified I was covered. They dealt with everything and gave me a contact in case I wasnt given the all clear to fly home. Luckily I was and flew home with no problems. Once home they sent a courtesy letter along with the final hospital bill of over £10,000 confirming all was paid.

Nat West Travel Insurance

Claimed in 2007 - daughter broke her arm in SeaWorld California
Claimed in 2014 - I broke my ankle skiing, we had driven to Austria. They paid all medical bills and arranged for flight home, and allowed my daughter to be my companion.

Also - have been good covering my breast cancer, have paid to have it included for 4 years now, each year the additional cost has gone down from approx £150 to last year at approx £80

All claims and PEC have been handled really efficiently.

Insure & Go were excellent when my wife acquired a leg infection in 2017. It required two nights in hospital and IV antibiotics, and we later found out the bill was in excess of $20,000.
