Would you change to a villa?

Given the minimal difference in price I would vote for a villa anytime whether as a couple or family. Much more space, home from home, can be great if weather bad, even if you never cook great for breakfasts, ice cream and snacks so saving $$$.

I suppose it also depends if the driver likes partaking in alcoholic refreshments as if in an apartment on i-drive plenty of places to walk to for meals and drinks. My DH always drives but doesn't drink much so it doesn't bother him having nothing to drink but for some people this is part of their holiday and relaxation.

Both have their advantages. We have kids and they prefer a villa (kids age 3, 6, 9) though we have noticed when we have stopped in a complex last year with a communal pool (this was Cyprus rather than Orlando), the kids loved meeting other kids and playing with them rather than just playing as brothers all the time. For us its villa for Orlando, and the hotel/all inclusive complex for other holidays.

Got a 6 bed villa this time as others have said offers generally a larger pool plus a cinema room so kids can have their own space watching films.

Just to add, the idea of walking down I-drive sounds great but with the humidity in Aug it doesn't work in reality as it's just too sweaty to get dressed and walk anywhere. Villa helps here as you can cook (we enjoy cooking as a family) or get one of the countless takeaways to deliver.

As a couple who haven't stayed in a hotel in Florida since the last millennium (apart from a one night pre-cruise stay in
Miami) not sure if I'm really qualified to answer in a comparative way.

Just returned from our 13th visit to the same 4 bed villa with November booked as well. We are just a couple as well.

Too many advantages to list really. Twenty feet from the spa with a coffee to watch the sunrise - just the two of us. Ten feet from the private pool. Ten feet from sunbathing on the pool deck. Five feet from sitting in the shade under the lanai.

Four toilets to choose from with one on the pool deck. Wash and tumble dry when we want to and nobody else to please. One bedroom just for shopping.

The ability and freedom to pop back in for coffee or cold drink whenever we like without asking whether housekeeping have been.

The ability for one of our daughters to join us for a week and pay no more accommodation costs - yes we do get the owner's approval.

Watching the 10" high mockingbird attack a hawk perched on the screen and twice its size.

Watching Jeopardy either in the lounge or in bed.

We’ve done both with and without children. It is a personal decision but having done both hotel & villa by choice we’re neither & much prefer a condo! That way everyone gets more space, I can get all the laundry done before we come home and the kids usually have a choice of pools and activities on site if needed. Each to their own.

We like the space of a villa and the pool and like others do part onsite at Disney and part villa. Do you know the location of the villa and when do you go? Will you need pool heat and how much is it?

I’m assuming the reason you are doubting is mainly the space and pool, you’ll get loads more at the villa and additional facilities to yourself as has been mentioned. I think you’re right that wandering around up and down I drive won’t be the same with kids, but you know them best but mine would not enjoy this even now in their teens!

We are doing a split villa hotel stay this year however the only downsides of our previous villa stays were:
- we ate in more than anticipated which meant we had to do several grocery shops and I ended up cooking/ tidying up - I like to have a break from this on holiday
- lots of driving and driver can’t drink (may not be an issue for you)
- we stayed at Christmas time and there was just nothing Christmassy at the villa at all - not an issue for you though
- I found tidying the villa at the end took quite a bit of time as we had spread out everywhere

These are not major points though and tbh this year I’m looking forward to relaxing at the villa, being able to get drinks whenever we like, being able to get up and have a coffee whilst everyone else is still asleep and know I can have a decent spot by the pool!

We’re doing split stay, 5 on site, 16 in a villa. Mine love the private pool in a villa, I also don’t feel so self conscious in my swimming costume in a private villa pool.
They also like the space, no ones on top of each other.

Don’t know where it will be which I hate. I like to research and plan. They have said its in the davenport or champions gate area so shouldn’t be more than 30 mins to Disney or I drive I think.

My choice would be a villa every time, if u want to go anywhere just jump in your car. You just cant beat the space and having your own pool!

With children? A villa wins every time.

As others have said, it’s the space for them to spread out and relax. Our children get on much better if they can have a bit of time apart to relax and recharge their batteries. Being together on a hotel room does not allow this.

The pool is brilliant and such a treat.

It’s also having the extras that many villas have like a snooker table, darts board etc. Again, the children love this.
