Any recommendations gratefully received

Front Street pizza at the Brooklyn end of the Brooklyn bridge (rather than the busy ones right near the water) - by the rear access steps.

Georges diner just down from the 911 memorial.

Bourbon Street grille.

Panera bread for breakfast.

These are the places my kids like (esp George's and FSP).

Tbh there are so many places to eat that you will be able to find something to your taste anywhere. No need to cross cross NYC to find a recommended place. You are likely to be walking past 100 + just to get to the ones you are are thinking of.

Truck stops for lunch and pizza slices are lovely on the hoof for lunch.

Enjoy.

Following this with interest, we're a family of 5 and don't want to break the bank eating!

Have a look at Heartland Brewery. I think they have 3 different outlets around the Times Square / Empire State Building area.

if you head towards the business areas there are lots of places that sell reasonable breakfasts and lunches. We liked this place for breakfast lepainquotidien/us/e...SAAEgK1zPD_BwE

Another recommendation here for Bourbon Street Gille. Lovely food and the portions are enormous. You could easily share in here.

We ate at local places where ever we were. Nothing fancy. Just pizzas. Subway sandwiches. Etc. But we didn’t have a lot of time.

Thank you everyone for your advice so far. Don’t want to be spending $$$$ on food as rathervspend on shopping
People rave about stardust diner but it appears pricey is it worth the cost for the experience?
Just bought a voucher from groupon for the sugar factory $80 and it cost around £24. So at least we have one sit down meal and then happy just to eat cheap the rest of the time.

We also kind of ate on the hop really. George’s diner, Shake Shack, Ryan Maguires and Buffalo Wild Wings near Times Square. Ryan Maguires an Irish bar near 9/11 was our favorite meal of the trip as we actually got vegetables ! We realized after the first day that the queues were out of the door at the popular restaurants so decided to have our main meal at lunch time. We then took pizzas back to the hotel in the evening. I had worried about the cost of meals but it wasn’t anywhere near as expensive as I thought it would be.

We found Jacks 99c store not too far from our hotel for snacks and drinks.
