Mobile San Francisco airport hotel?

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel at SFO? We’re flying in on a Saturday evening and pick our car up on Sunday morning so need somewhere for the night. Walking distance for food would be a bonus. There are so many that I thought I’d ask for a recommendation before taking a lucky dip!

I guess not many people have had a sleepover at the airport! I’ve used tripadvisor and booked Millwood Inn and Suites on a free cancellation rate in case any better ideas come along

We are staying at Best Western El Rancho. Booked this via Hotels.com, they have a free airport shuttle, free breakfast and plenty of places to eat nearby (apparently). We are doing the same as you staying for the night and picking a car up after a couple of nights.

Oh I’ll be interested to hear how you get on! There are lots of hotels along the road that yours and ours is on - El Camino Real. Ours also has the shuttle and breakfast included. What are your plans when you’re there?

We are going to San Francisco for the day, we have Alcatraz booked at midday and the visit Chinatown and ride a cable car! The next day we head South along the PCH after picking our car up from Avis at the airport.

Sounds good! We're doing the exact same apart from the day in SF as we've been there before. Would be interested to hear about your experiences when you're back. Have a fab time!

We are staying there too for the night in September before we head off to Lake Tahoe. Would be interested to hear how it is.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Grosvenor Hotel twice, very close to the airport, free shuttle bus free breakfast, the staff were very helpful and informative.

We are staying at El Rancho at the moment. I would say it's OK, nothing special... not sure where the amazing reviews on trip advisor came from (! ). Its clean and in a motel style. There are a couple supermarkets nearby and some fast food "restaurants" within walking distance...we drove 10 minutes for a steak house. We've not used the shuttle, but it appears to be leaving and arriving regularly. Breakfast is adequate, with hot and cold options.

I'd probably stay here again as other places were a lot more expensive. I'd definately ask for an upper floor room though, as there is quite a lot of noise from the corridor upstairs (they have no rooms for us to swap). Also, between 5 (ish) am and 11pm there is some train noise, as the hotel is right next to a track (although we've got used to it now)

Hope you have a lovely trip

Edit... Just noticed a Chinese restaurant next door 😊

Thanks for that. We are only there for one night as we are flying into San Francisco but heading straight to Lake Tahoe in the morning. Good tip about the upper floor rooms. Thank you😀
