Full Size SUV

I've booked a Full Size SUV for our holiday next year but the Boss Lady is a little worried that it'll be too big. Our standard car is a Qashqai and she has driven a Ford Edge a few years back when we was working in the US for a couple of months. For our last holiday we ended up with a Dodge Journey because she didn't like the look of the rest of the line due to size.

What tips can people give about driving a Full Size SUV? I'm trying to persuade her that it's not that big but she's seen the sizes on Wikipedia and a Suburban (for example) is a good 1.3m longer than a Qashqai.

That’s true, but everything else to do with cars is bigger out there too, so it all comes out in the wash. They’re not farting about with the stupidly small parking spaces we have to put up with.

A QQ has such poor viability it will feel the same as driving a full size suv.

After a few miles it just feels like driving any other car

We ended up with a QX 80 it's nearly a foot taller than me and much longer than our Sportage at home , all I can say is it was so easy to drive and as PP says parking bays and road lanes are much more generous than here would definately book a full size again if we can get a decent price

I've booked a full size for our trip this year and yes, it's much bigger than what I'm used to but all of the cars I've driven in the US have a lot more safety features such as rear parking videos, alerts on the wing mirrors to tell you if you're too close to another vehicle etc so I'm not worried at all. After a day of driving it will feel like any other car.

I am 4ft 11inches and drive a RAV4 here. I have driven a Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada and GMC Yukon on our last 3 trips. They are easy to drive and park because the roads in the USA are huge.

I have a Qashqai over here in the UK and had a Tahoe in June. It felt big at first and soon got used to it. When I got back home, my Qashqai felt like a city car and really pokey.

I loved driving the Tahoe and didn’t feel it was too big, even when parking, plenty of space and no complaints from anyone in the party.

The roads are wide and the parking spaces roomy!

Last time in Florida I drove this comically large behemoth around for a couple of weeks, the size was a complete non-issue.

I drive a Toyota Hiace Camper (not massive) and Kadjar (Qashqai sized crossover thing) at home. As others have said getting back in a "normal" car after driving that for a 2 weeks felt very odd!

You can drive or you can't. It's only really parking that it's noticeable but larger vehicles should have full sensors and camera.
