I think they are a lot more concerned nowadays with the possible problems some people cause by having one/6 too many drinks on flights n quite rightly so. Alcohol dehydrates & on flights particularly long haul flights, as Mr Tom says a glass of water is your best bet, ready for celebrations when you arrive.

Just to clarify I drink loads of water. Plus wine.

However it's all about being sensible. The altitude does weird things to our bodies. Wish it would make me lose weight.

Whilst you can always ask for more to drink do be careful. If you present to immigration very intoxicated it might not go the way you want it to. Plus if you've got a hire car you can't be drunk for collecting that.
