Bit further up 192 is rolling oaks with longhorn for good steaks, Olive Garden, Texas Roadhouse.
Your resort food court does big 16 inch pizzas for about $20.
Echo what this person has said.

In regards to the cards you need to look at what kinda things you will be eating.

We have the eat and play card which if i remember right saves 20% at dennys. We use this place about 4 to 5 times over a vacation. Carabba's is on the 192 also and you save 15% with the card there.

places like ponderosa and chiili's are on both cards. You need to work out whats best kids eating free or 13-20% off the bill.

Remember its 1 child free with each kids eat free card, so for 2 adults 2 kids you'd need two cards.

Steak wise you have Black Angus and Outback within about 5 miles, loads of other places nearby that shouldn't cost much in an Uber.

Vowels - Thank you for the links I will look at them tonight! Did think about the resort mugs initially, when we thought that we would be in the Parks all day and disregard them since you could not use them in the Park. Since then we have reconsidered our plans, Parks in the morning till lunch then back to the resort to relax abit, maybe I should revisit the mug idea. Can people share mugs or is it a strict 1 person 1 mug system?

You could just get a couple if you're happy sharing drinks. Does get awkward if people want different drinks though. They don't hold loads of liquid so you'd be refilling a lot too.

Dixonsontour & Powley - Thank you for those, think I need to start (and quickly) make a food plan and work out which card is best. Good to know that there are so many options so close - I imagine being a tourist hot spot there will (hopefully) be plenty of Uber’s around. I think I read somewhere you don’t tip Uber’s which seems rather unAmerican - has anyone had experience with this?

Vowels - We actually booked everything through Disney so maybe we could add QS, again we read that paying out of pocket can be cheaper & I liked the idea of trying restaurants off site and mixing up some nice sit down meals with some cheap and cheerful dinners! With QS I got the feeling that you were limiting yourself to more Cafeteria onsite dinning options that all looked a bit samey?

No QS is very wide variety. Not just burger and chips. If you look on dining reviews forum on the Dibb there are some qs reports.
You can eat at resort, in parks or at Disney springs on qs.
How old are your kids?
One of the perks of paying to stay onsite is you are in the bubble. You may find last thing you want is to drag tired kids away from park in an Uber especially in heat.
Qs also includes snacks which are pricey in park.

Of the two I've mentioned Black Angus. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs but with your steak you will only get either chips (fries), baked potato or rice. If you want the likes of mushrooms etc you will have to pay for these. In the opposite direction on the 192 is Longhorns probably the favourite off site steak place on the Dibb. I don't think it's that much further than the other two.

Markpwa8 - Arrggg! I’ve now promised my wife steak! Are there any great Steakhouses near by that you can recommend?
Logan’s Roadhouse on 192 is really good, if you sign up to their website you can normally get a 20% off voucher.
There is a bucket of monkey nuts on the table which you help yourself to and are meant to throw the shells onto the floor! I couldn’t do this so came home with a pocket full of shells, but my niece loved doing it!
