I've found this thread really interesting as my partner has an interview coming up for a funeral director post.
It made for an interesting discussion about how jobs like these hold a certain level of expectation and conduct, not only with the family & friends of the deceased but also the general public & I think he's planning to highlight this during his interview now so it's been really useful.

Me and my daughter walked past a funeral parlour and were laughing and were told to shh by someone in there. Then on the way back from my fil funeral the director was sitting in the front chatting to me about washing his white shirts and ironing while my mil was very upset behind me.I tried keeping it brief because I thought it was inappropriate. I'm not sure what's allowed and what's not anymore 🤔

Good luck to your husband, my husband has been a funeral director for 7 years now. He wishes he’d got into it years ago.
